This documentary compilation provides continuity to the works previously published by the author on the puppet theater of the Rosete Aranda companies and their successors, as well as the puppet theater movement promoted by the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Institute of the Fine Arts).

Based on the following of these two great trends in Puppet Theater, this new publication reunites the work of nine groups and creators produced or founded between 1940 and 1960, in the realms of tents and puppets. These theaters, whose work is documented in the first section (and in a couple of cases remains active), are: Títeres Flores (Aguascalientes), Títeres Herrera (DF), Gerardo Aceves Mezquitán “Pinito” (Guadalajara), Títeres Morales (Oaxaca) y Pedro Domínguez Franco “Periquín” (Pachuca). Among those who continued the puppet theater movement presented here are: Gilberto Ramírez Alvarado “Don Ferruco” (DF), Juvenal Fernández Bravo (DF), Teatro Petul (Chiapas) y Pedro Carreón Zazueta “El señor Guiñol” (Sinaloa).

In this multimedia archive, each creator or group is presented with an introduction and through a variety of documents and images that establish the value of a stage tradition with deep historic roots that has never lost contact with a popular sector of Mexican society throughout the country.
